Calgary is a modern and dynamic city situated in Midwest Canada on the shore of the Bow River. With a population of approximately 800,000 inhabitants, it has everything to offer that one would expect from a large city, but without being too big. Calgary is close to the Rocky Mountains and has many shops, theatres, galleries and a vibrant nightlife. The summer is a particularly fun time of year as there are many festivals.

Calgary is a particularly exciting destination for everyone who loves sports and outdoor activities. Activities in and around Calgary include skiing, climbing, cycling, rafting and golf. Calgary is just two hours away from the Rocky Mountains and is surrounding by stunning landscape. Calgary is surrounded by beautiful lakes, forests and rivers. The Olympia Park in Calgary is also a must see. The first Winter Olympics to take place in Canada were held here in 1988.

Although Calgary is a very modern city it also values tradition. Every year in July the Calgary Stampede takes place. The Calgary Stampede is Calgary's most famous tourist attraction. The city is virtually transformed into the Wild West with covered wagon races, rodeos, Western shows and fairs with cattle auctions.

Calgary also enjoys excellent weather. There are on average 260 sunny days per year.
