Cork - Ireland

With approximately 140,000 inhabitants, Cork is the second largest city in Ireland. This harbour city is surreptitiously considered Ireland's other capital and enjoys its competition against Dublin with much Irish humour.

Cork was founded in the sixth century and has transformed itself from a merchant city into a lively metropolis. Today the city centre lies on an island in the Lee River at the head of the Cork Harbour inlet, a beautiful bay area. Much of the cityscape is shaped by water. Cork has innumerable canals and bridges, which together with the harbour, the many parks and green hills around the city, add to Cork's special charm. It is this special charm of Cork that has made the city into a very popular destination for people who want to study English.

Cork is also a great place to meet people. The city’s inhabitants are very open and friendly, so you will have no problems getting to know some of the locals if you choose to study English at the English school in Cork. Cork’s many pubs are a particularly good place for meeting people and also a great opportunity for you to use your newly acquired English skills. What better way to get to know the locals than over a nice pint of Guinness or a glass of Irish whiskey!

In addition, the city has amazing shopping opportunities, beautiful promenades and numerous historical buildings. Each year Cork is host to several festivals such as the Cork Film Festival, Cork International Choral Festival, and the Cork Mid-Summer Festival.

So, why not study English at the English school in Cork and experience some of Ireland’s charm!
