Auckland, which is also known as “The City of Sails” because of its extensive coastline, beaches and the large number of sailing boats, is the largest city in New Zealand with a population of approximately one million inhabitants. The impressive landscape surrounding Auckland is characterised by 48 inactive volcanoes. Auckland itself is situated on an isthmus which was created by volcanic eruptions. As a result the city is surrounded by water and numerous beaches.
The area surrounding Auckland is truly stunning, but even Auckland itself has much to offer. There are more parks and green spaces in Auckland than in any other city in the world. For those of you who love shopping, Auckland has an excellent range of shops. There are also lovely restaurants and Cafes. Auckland is a fascinating city to see. It has a lovely skyline in the centre, an incredible harbour and beautiful suburbs. Due to Auckland’s beautiful geographic location there are endless activities to be enjoyed here. You can go fishing, surfing, hiking, riding and much more.
The spectacular Rangitoto Volcano protects the Hauraki Gulf, which is a paradise for the thousands of water sport enthusiasts who sail, fish and dive in the bay, as well as those who like to explore the surrounding area.
