Cape Town - South Africa

Cape Town is a city of contrasts. It has undergone massive change in the past 50 years with many modern skyscrapers and motorways being built all over the city. However, the city still remains one filled with history.

The old buildings, cobble streets and memorials give visitors a good insight into the city’s history. The neighbourhood Green Point is one of Cape Town's best areas because it is located in between the city centre, waterfront and beaches. Green Point offers a variety of leisure options such as a large fitness centre, tennis and squash courts, a golf course and football fields on the beach, as well as numerous shops, restaurants, bars and clubs. There is also the Green Point Stadium, which regularly hosts concerts by international stars.

The waterfront of the city is located on Alfred and Victoria Bay, which is still a harbour that is in use. Because of its pleasant atmosphere and wealth of shopping opportunities, the Waterfront is always worth a visit. In addition to cinemas and museums, highlights include a brewery, an elegant shopping centre and a theatre.

The well-known beaches at Clifton Bay and Camps Bay are only a few minutes away from our partner school and can be easily reached with the minibus taxi. After classes many students go to one of the four beaches in Clifton to sun bathe, meet up with friends or simply enjoy the sunset. Camps Bay is known for its many bars and cafes, and its long white beach.

The beaches in South Africa are not only beautiful but also exceptionally safe and hygienic. Tests have revealed that South Africa has some of the cleanest beaches in the world.

South Africa

There are very few countries in the world that could match South Africa’s diversity. If you choose to study English at the English school in Cape Town, you will have the opportunity to explore mountains, deserts, woodland, stunning coastline, numerous national parks and much more. South Africa has more species of mammals than North and South America or Europe and Asia combined. A sixth of the world's known ocean life lives off the coast of South Africa, many of which are only found in this region. In addition, South Africa represents the industrial, financial and business centre of the African continent.
