Bordeaux is most famous for its wine which bears the same name as the city. However, the city has much more to offer than famous vineyards. With over 600,000 citizens, Bordeaux is the fifth largest city in France The historic city centre and the numerous museums make Bordeaux France’s secret cultural capital.

A number of the well-preserved buildings from the 18th century have even been declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.

In the third century Bordeaux was already a prosperous Roman city. But the city's economic upswing really began after the Middle Ages. The city was able to prosper quickly due to its growing wine trade and its location on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela.

Bordeaux has an ideal location for people who wish to study French. The city itself is beautiful with plenty of things for people to see and do. Bordeaux’s location is also perfect.
