Montepulciano - Italy

undefined

Montepulciano is located in South Tuscany. The town has a population of approximately 14,000 inhabitants and is characterized by vineyards and olive groves. The idyllic scenery provides the perfect setting for people to study Italian and have an amazing holiday at the same time.

Remnants of Italian history and architecture can be found in the historical city centre. The old fortress of the 8th century can still be found in the centre, as well as remnants of palaces dating from the Middle Ages. However, it is not just the past which makes Montepulciano so attractive. The modern, comfortable Italian way of life can also be found here. There are numerous bars and restaurants where visitors can enjoy a nice Italian dish and a glass of wine. Montepulciano is also home to the famous ‘Vino Nobile’.

A special highlight of the town festivals, which are a long-standing tradition, is the Bravio delle Botti. This competition takes place at the end of August in honour of the town's winegrowers. During the celebration, residents from each neighbourhood roll empty wine barrels in a race to the Piazza Grande. Following the race is a toast with a glass of wine.
