Portugal is located on the Iberian Peninsula directly on the Atlantic Ocean and borders Spain to the north and east. The municipality of Cabo de Roca is the most western point of the European mainland. The Azores archipelago and Madeira, which is famous for its flowers, also belong to Portugal.

Northern Portugal is characterised by a relatively cool and wet climate and is made up of the two traditional provinces of Minho and Trás-os-Montes. Portugal’s central region has a very pleasant climate which is particularly suited for winegrowing. The Algarve is situated in the south of Portugal and is famous for its stunning sand beaches, coastal cliffs and picturesque towns.
