Conil is located in Costa de la Luz on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. The area's name is derived from its excellent climate: Costa de la Luz, which translates as Coast of Light, enjoys the most sunshine out of the whole of Spain. During the summer months the average temperature is between 25° and 35°C, and in winter between 15° and 24°C. Because Conil is situated directly on the coast of the ocean there is frequently a gentle breeze, so even in the summer the weather is not unbearably hot. Conil is the perfect place to study Spanish, if you want to be in a beautiful location and enjoy a quiet holiday away from all the masses of tourists. The location of the Spanish school in Conil is also great as it its only a ten-minute walk to the beach.

This beautiful sandy beach is 15 kilometres long and is only interrupted in a few places by steep coastal cliffs. The countryside surrounding Andalusia is characterised by various pine, oak, fig, and olive trees.

The full name of this village is actually Conil de la Frontera. The designation "Frontera" means border, and refers to the earlier border area between Christian and Moorish influences.
